The restaurant is located on the southwest corner of 47th & Wyandotte Streets in the Country Club Plaza, a shopping and dining district in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri.
Founded in 1972, Starker’s Restaurant is one of Kansas City’s last independently owned and privately operated restaurants located on the Country Club Plaza. Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted with warmth and personality by the restaurant’s intimate décor that boasts a simple classic style of elegance and sophistication. Original owner, Cliff Bath, sold the restaurant to Executive Chef John McClure in October 2006. Chef McClure has carried on the passion and dedication for fine dining paired with a great wine list the restaurant has long been known for.
The restaurant accommodates 40 guests with crisp white linen tablecloths, Mottahedeh china and Riedel glassware. We offer lunch service Monday-Friday and dinner service Monday-Saturday. Our private dining room will accommodate 82 guests and may be reserved 7 days a week for lunch or dinner. The service staff is friendly, knowledgeable and discreet. The restaurant’s dual menu boasts a Classic and Seasonal side. The Classic menu features some of our guest’s favorite dishes while the Seasonal menu changes frequently and offers the freshest ingredients available to the chef and his creative staff from local farms.
Starker’s award winning wine list caters to all tastes and is 40 plus pages in length. Wine Spectator Magazine honored the restaurant for 14 years with the ‘Grand Award’, one of 88 worldwide. With The Best of Award of Excellence, the current wine list features familiar names as well as boutique wineries from all over the world numbering 1400 labels and an inventory over 10,000 bottles. The list’s main strength is California Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon with French Burgundy and Bordeaux following close behind. West coast wineries are featured with additional wines from Australia, South America and Europe.
The private dining room accommodates 82 guests in one room or the space may be divided into 2 or 3 rooms depending on the size of the event. Multi-course menus are designed specifically for our guests. Rooms may be reserved for business, social or family functions for brunch, lunch or dinner. The interior walls are lined with wine racks housing much of the restaurant’s inventory and opposite are windows overlooking 47th and Wyandotte Streets.
